October 16 In kind of a punk mood....
Watching the news - people getting killed - the ultimate crime -
and we're numbed to this. Venezuelan boats? People in Gaza? Sudan????
I'm always late to catch on; I was late to catch on to punk and such; I
ended up burning some Clash songs into my brain and loving them. This
song is to me incredibly powerful. Makes me think of being with a bunch
of other guys, trying to be thuggy and drinking. Maybe that's somewhat
the mindset of people carrying out murder.
As far as the "techno" side, here I am on the Linux machine again. It's
kind of a punk attitude I think. So, I wanted to subtitle it with the
lyrics. Long story short, I ended up doing it kind of "by hand"...sort
of like programming. I tried an Adobe website that said it would caption
videos for free but the words were wrong. Genius Lyrics provided these,
which I think are right. ffmpeg, zsh, vlc, vim - Free tools.
It's kind of a pleasant diversion tinkering with the tech-the reality
is, people are getting shot and blown up and starved. 😵

bit raw though. I actually think the sound of this studio version is
incredible.

up. Writing this on my 2014 MacBook running Arch Linux. Watching
Colbert. Not feeling like making any profound pronouncements right now.
Not sure how to do emojis in vim on Linux, although I guess there's
probably a way.......😀
